With autumn now in full swing, summer is ever more a distant memory. We made the most of that glorious season. The sun shone brightly, and between gardening, swimming, cooking, and hosting retreat events every weekend, it was and continues to be a very busy time here at Eagles Rock Retreat!
Going from one retreat to the next, always preparing, cooking, planning; there was a lot on the mind…always holding space for others, and not for myself.
It left me kind of detached from my own practice for a while as there were distractions and seemingly more important things to attend to.
With the September routine of school runs and ‘normality’ returning, I started getting back to my early morning breathing and yoga practice. Just being with my breath, conscious of every single inhale and exhale, I was amazed yet again how effective and beautiful this practice is… I felt back at home just after a few breaths… and grateful to all those teachers who kept the flame of yoga lit over centuries..
’It is enough
to listen to the silence.
Silence comes to fetch us
where we have just been
with our thoughts and feelings. ‘
If you were with us before, how have you felt after coming home from your retreat? My guess is that you felt more alive for perhaps a week, but unless you kept your practice going, that feeling subsided eventually. The learning of yoga begins in earnest when we develop our own regular practice.. are you there yet?
We offer Zoom classes for anyone who have been with us, or those who are thinking of coming on a retreat. These classes are a great way to keep your practice going and to keep it interesting. At the end of the day, unless you are enjoying it and feel inspired by it, yoga practice will eventually fall by the wayside. Time for action! Here is our weekly Zoom link.

The annual Christmas and New Year Retreat is scheduled for the 28th December – 2nd January. This is for those who would like to celebrate the beginning of the New Year differently this time… What a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in five days of deeply nourishing yoga practice, healthy tasty meals, great company, stunning walks and enter 2022 with renewed energy and inspiration!
We get asked a lot to share our recipes, and the one recipe everyone loves at the moment, is our raw blueberry cheesecake.
Here it is!
With days getting shorter and nights longer this time of year, we naturally withdraw from the outside world and go inwards. It is the season to switch from doing to being, reflecting on the year gone by, enjoying a nice evening by the fire and rest when your body asks for it… are you ready to listen?
We wish everyone many beautiful autumn days,
filled with joy, love, health and vitality.
